Students have the opportunity to be eligible for certain scholarships and bursaries. Check whether your family is affiliated with a specific company, union, or organization, as they might provide financial assistance through scholarships or bursaries for qualifying family members.
-
Some banks or credit unions might offer school tuition financing options. Verify with your bank or credit union to determine if you meet the criteria for their student line of credit or loan.
Repaying your Student Loan
Investing in continuing education is extremely valuable, yet without a well-structured plan, the repayment process can be overwhelming. We advise prioritizing the repayment of your student loans after graduation. There is a 6-month non-repayment period. When this period is over, you have to start making payments on your Loans. Tailor your monthly repayment option to align with your personal or family budget, ensuring it's a sustainable commitment until the loan is completely paid off.
-
Consult the Government of Canada website to learn more about student loan repayment options.
-
This approach involves login into your online banking to register your repayment plan. Many banks in Canada provide this service. For example, if you have an Alberta Student Loan, you can include or register the Alberta Direct Student Loan in your list of bill payments, utilizing a 7-digit student loan number as the account number. In the case of Canada Student Loans, you have the choice of adding or registering the National Student Loans Service Centre, National Student Loans, or NSLSC to your bill payments, once again using a 7-digit student loan number as your account number.
-
For those who had their Alberta or Canada student loan deposited directly into your bank account, a pre-authorized payment plan simply involves scheduling payments so that the repayment will automatically be withdrawn from that same bank account. You will receive a letter explaining the process before the plan takes effect.
